**We have several new classrooms opening soon. Please see below for all the information!

Classroom age designations are determined by your child's date of birth, and age as of Sept. 1 of each school year (with the exception of infants). We keep the students together who will be entering kindergarten the same year so that the children will be able to make and keep friends throughout their preschool years.

Chicks (ages 6 weeks to 12 months) and Ducklings (ages 12 to 18 months)

*New for 2012* AcroKids is proud to announce that we will begin accepting infants into care for the summer session 2012 and beyond. Your infant will be cared for in a home-like environment where they will be nurtured and loved during this precious time of their life. They will be given ample opportunities to explore the world around them with daily walks outside, opportunities to learn to crawl and walk in large, safe, open areas, and much more. They will be treated with the care and commitment that they deserve. We realize it is a HUGE decision to decide to turn over the care of your baby to a stranger, and we do not take that lightly. Please rest assured that your child will be in the best environment possible for their growth and development.

Monkeys (ages 18 months to 2.5 years)
In our Monkeys classroom the children work on colors, shapes, sizes, counting and sensory experiences. They also begin learning letters and numbers, and work on listening for the sounds in our language. We use many methods of instruction to help students learn how to hold a writing utensil and make deliberate movements that will eventually turn into letters. We have age-appropriate expectations for our youngest students, and therefore keep our child to teacher ratios very low (no more than 7 children to 1 teacher) so that they receive lots of love and attention along with their thorough academic instruction. Our Monkeys also have the opportunity to go to their own gymnastics and Kindermusik classes which are perfect for their age and skill levels.

**Monkeys who turn 2.5yrs during the fall semester will be moved up to the Koalas class in January, on a space available basis.**

Koalas (2.5 to 3 years)
Our Koalas are ready to take on a few more challenges. In this classroom we work on colors, shapes, sizes, comparisons, fine motor skills, large motor skills, counting, and much more. These students are eager to learn, and we want to encourage that through lots of love and instruction. We begin working on the names of the letters and numbers at this age, and encouraging children to find the letters they have learned in their environment. We keep our Koalas in small groups of no more than 8 children with 1 teacher, so that they can have plenty of instruction and interaction with the teacher. This is also the age when many of our students are working on potty learning, so we want our teachers to be ready and available to help with that as needed. Our Koalas have the option for skills classes as well, and can now choose between gymnastics, Kindermusik or swimming lessons.

Turtles (ages 3 to 4 years- must have turned 3 years by Sept. 1)
Our Turtles are busy, busy, busy! AcroKids teachers engage the children in academics each day focusing on learning letter names, letter sounds, numbers, counting, basic math skills, calendar concepts and much more. The children spend time each day in large and small groups, with lots of individual attention. Our ratio for the Turtles classroom is no more than 9 students to 1 teacher, which is roughly half that of other childcare centers in the area. This allows plenty of instructional attention and keeps our groups small to prevent the conflicts between students that are so typical in other "daycares". Our Turtles also have the opportunity to sign up for skills classes in gymnastics, swimming, soccer, dance, karate and kindermusik to round out their physical education as well!

**We require parents of preschool students to enroll their child in at least 2 days per week so that our teachers will have ample time to work with each child. Less than 2 days per week of school will not allow us enough time for all of the instruction we would like to give your child.**

Zebras- Pre-Kindergarten (ages 4-5 years)

Pre-Kindergarten students need focused academic attention to make certain they are ready for the big kindergarten year to come. Our teachers lead the children through a large group time each morning that explains the theme for the day and what skills they will be working on. The children are then broken up into smaller groups for work on phonics, math, reading, science, and social studies. During small group instruction, the children will have individualized instruction making certain that all skills needed for kindergarten are understood. Our child to teacher ratio for the Zebra classroom is 10 students to 1 teacher, which allows for ample instruction. Throughout the school day, the children will also be rotating through their optional skills classes in gymnastics, swimming, tumbling, soccer, dance, karate and kindermusik based on their age and skill level in each area.

**We require parents of pre-kindergarten students to enroll their child in at least 3 days per week so that our teachers will have ample time to prepare the child for kindergarten. Less than 3 days per week of school will not allow us enough time for all of the instruction we would like to give your child.**

Eagles- Junior Kindergarten (ages 4-5 years- 5 day/week Requirement)

We are now offering an advanced pre-kindergarten classroom called "Junior Kindergarten". This classroom uses a curriculum called High Reach Learning, and operates under a kindergarten classroom model. We require our junior kindergartners to come to school 5 days per week so that we can make certain to have consistency in their learning. Children in this classroom are expected to already have a working knowledge of letter and number names, and are ready to use the sounds of the letters to begin sounding out words. Children are instructed in sight words, early math skills, basic reading, calendar skills, science, social studies, and much more. This is an intensive curriculum and will require some "homework" on occasion. Our child to teacher ratio for our junior kindergarten Eagles is 12 students to 1 teacher.

Owls- Private Kindergarten (5 years old by Sept. 1, 2012)
*New this year!* By popular request from our parents, we are not ready to offer a private kindergarten classroom for those students who are not yet ready to "graduate" from AcroKids Academy. Our private kindergarten will have focused academic instruction in all necessary kindergarten skills, options for skills classes, outside play time, open gym, and much more. This classroom will be taught by a certified kindergarten teacher, and will be offered in both a full time and part time option. The child to teacher ratio for private kindergarten is 14 students to 1 teacher to allow for ample instruction. Five day enrollment is required for kindergarten enrollment.

Afterschool Classrooms: Lions (K-1st graders), Tigers (2nd-3rd graders), Cougars (4th-5th graders)
Our afterschool program is only entering its second full year, but it is already incredibly popular. The classrooms for our afterschool students are equipped for fun! We have things like xbox, wii, computers, air hockey, ping pong, movies, arts & crafts, board games, basketball, soccer goals, bikes, scooters, and much more to keep our big kids happy and thriving. Afterschool students are also welcome to enroll in any of our skills classes that are offered during the time that they are here. These include (but are not limited to): gymnastics, swimming, tumbling, trampoline, and dance. Students are also given a snack after school each day. Those who have homework or reading to do are given a quiet area to do so with a teacher to assist them if needed. Our ratio for afterschool students varies from 16:1 to 20:1 depending on the age group. Afterschool students are required to enroll for at least 2 days per week of transportation and care.
